Order of Blocks at Dundee

Purely for interest – please don’t learn these off by heart for interviews, you’ll never be asked about this!

Disclaimer: This order has recently changed for those applying to medical school in Oct 2012. I hope to update this page as soon as I know what’s happening!

Systems teaching starts in Year 1, Semester 2, so:

Year 1, Semester 2:
Dermatology (skin)
Cardiology (heart)
Haematology (blood disorders)

Year 2:
Respiratory (lungs)
Endocrinology (hormones)
Gastrointestinal (stomach, liver, intestines etc.)
Musculoskeletal (muscles and bones)
Renal (kidneys, waterworks, prostates)

Year 3:
Neurology (brain)
Psychiatry
Ophthalmology (eyes)
ENT (ear nose and throat)
Ageing
Child Health
Reproduction (Obstetrics and Gynaecology – childbirth and ladyparts)

    • I know a little bit about the course, but not very much! Will need to do a bit of research…

      As far as I understand it, the main changes are:
      Longer phase 1
      Haematology is moving to 3rd year (?)
      And I’ve heard that anatomy is now being taught with each block rather than as a separate entity?
